Growing Numbers of Pets Leads Denver Animal Shelter to Ask for Help Published on April 27, 2023 Denver Animal Shelter (DAS) is seeing an alarming spike in the number of dogs surrendered by their owners and is reaching out to the community for help.In 2023, from January 1 to April 23, the shelter had taken in 477 surrendered animals, (mostly larger dogs), compared to 348 over the same period in 2022.
