Community Counts! Class: Diversity and I/DD 101

CTAT, LLC, with funding from the Denver Human Services mill levy, invites community partners to take part in Community Counts! A Diversity Partnership Program — Strengthening Our Community to Include People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD).

Community Counts! classes are for community members who are interested in expanding their knowledge of including individuals with I/DD in valuable roles within their organizations, businesses, services, and programs. Join us for thought-provoking discussions on diversity and inclusion and explore how including people experiencing I/DD can change our Denver community. Panel members with I/DD, as well as knowledgeable facilitators, will help participants understand the importance of belonging.

“Diversity and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities 101” is for community members who are interested in expanding their knowledge of the diagnosis of Intellectual and Development Disabilities (I/DD) and various life experiences of people with I/DD. The class will cover such topics as Person First Language, the variety of medical and cognitive issues experienced, myths and misconceptions about people with I/DD, issues impacting people with I/DD such as fair wages, housing, etc., and services that may be helpful or desired.
