Skills Assessments in the Hiring Process

The city strives to hire and promote the most qualified candidates for the jobs that we perform to serve the residents of Denver.

To ensure we hire and promote the most qualified candidates, some positions with the city may require an online assessment or test as part of the recruitment process.

These assessments are:

  • Skills-based, not personality-based
  • Typically conducted during the interview stage
  • Designed to provide objective data on a candidate’s ability to perform specific job-related tasks

Assessments help reduce unconscious bias and create a level playing field, giving all candidates an equal opportunity to demonstrate their potential.

If an assessment or test is required for the position, you’ll receive an email from the recruiter with instructions and next steps.
