Thank you so much for your interest in joining the City and County of Denver! We're here to help you apply for a job and navigate the hiring process with ease. You'll find step-by-step instructions to guide you through each task.

This process is designed for external candidates, or those who are not currently employees of the City and County of Denver.

Getting Started

To kick off your career search with the City and County of Denver, start by creating an account in Workday. When you apply for a position, your resume, work experience, education and skills will be saved in your profile, making it super easy to apply for other jobs in the future. 

  1. Go to Denver's Jobs page.
  2. Select Sign In to create an account.
  3. Create an account using your email and a password.
  4. Once you create an account, you will be able to browse job postings.
  5. Select Search Jobs in the top, right corner to view the list of job openings.
  6. Return to the home page at any time by selecting the Denver logo in the top, left corner or by selecting Candidate Home in the top right corner.

Find a Job

If you haven't created a Workday account yet, head back to Getting Started section.

Find a job

  1. Sign In to your Workday account.
  2. Select Search for Jobs in the top, right corner to see current job openings.
  3. Under Current Search, use the categories to filter by location, full time or part time, different types of jobs and more.
  4. When you find a position that sounds interesting, select it to view the full details.
  5. When it feels like a good fit, select Apply.

You've found the position that's right for you, now apply for it!

Apply for a job

  1. Choose an option to proceed:
    a. Use My Last Application: If you've applied to a job with the city before, your previous job information will automatically fill in.
    b. Auto-fill with Resume: Upload a resume to quickly fill out the application. This is not required but it can make the process faster!
        i. Select Drop File Here or Select File to find your resume.
        ii. Select Continue.
    c. Apply Manually: If you prefer, you can fill out the job application from scratch.
    d. Apply with LinkedIn: You will be routed to your LinkedIn account. You can auto-populate the job application with your profile.
  2. Make sure to complete the job application fully! Required fields are marked with a red asterisk. You can track your progress using the progress bar. Remember to select Save and Continue on each page. You can leave and come back to finish your application.

Section by Section

  1. My Information: This one is pretty straightforward. Tell us about yourself and how you heard about the job you're applying for.
  2. My Experience: To proceed, you need to include your education and experience. If you don't have professional experience, feel free to add any volunteer work or coaching experience. If you uploaded a resume, review and verify the information, making sure to fill in any additional fields. If you didn't upload a resume, you'll need to manually add your work experience and education.
  3. Work Experience: Add all relevant positions you've held. Remember that required fields are marked with a red asterisk. In the Role Description, take a moment to describe your role including your responsibilities and any achievements. This helps us understand your experience better! (Select Add to include more work experience)
    a. Certifications: Add all relevant certifications you have. You can include an attachment here too.
    b. Education: Add all relevant schooling including school or university, degree and field of study.
    c. Skills: List all relevant knowledge, skills and competencies, separating each with a comma.
    d. Languages: Select Add to add your language skills. You will select from am drop-down menu your reading, speaking and writing proficiency levels.
    e. Resume/CV: Upload any relevant documents to include with your applications. This is the place for your resume, cover letter, writing samples, work samples, transcripts, etc.
    f. Websites: Don't use this field
    Once all relevant information has been entered and reviewed, select Save and Continue.
  4. Application Questions: Answer all questions truthfully and accurately. Be sure to review your responses before moving to the next question. Required fields will still be marked with a red asterisk. Once you've answered all the questions, select Save and Continue.

    Sharing this information is voluntary and you may select Decline to Identify on the form if you do not wish to disclose. Responding is completely optional voluntary and does not affect your standing as a candidate. The information you provide will not be used in any aspect of selection or employment.
  6. Terms and Conditions: Review all the information carefully and select the checkbox if you accept. Once you've entered and reviewed all relevant information, select Save and Continue.
  7. Review: Before submitting your application, review all sections (excluding the application questions) to ensure all information is correct and accurate, as the application can only be submitted once. If you need to edit any section, click the Back button at the bottom of the application - do not use the browser's back arrow as you could lose your progress and leave the site.

Once the application is complete, select Submit.


Manage Your Applications

Feel free to check the status of your job application anytime during the hiring process! You can also start an application, save it and come back later to finish and submit it when you're ready. You'll keep track of your job applications from the Candidate Home page. From there, you can also search and apply for more jobs. Under My Tasks, view and take action on necessary steps in the hiring process.

Check the Status of a Draft Job Application

Sign In to your Workday account using your email and password you created (you can find those details in the Getting Started section above). Once you're on the Candidate Home page, you'll be able to track your job applications and search for more job opportunities. In the Draft Applications section, you can view and continue working on any job applications that are still in progress.

Check the Status of a Submitted Job Application

Sign Into your Workday account using your email and password you created (you can find those details in the Getting Started section above). Once you're on the Candidate Home page, you'll be able to track your job applications and search for more job opportunities. In the Submitted Applications section, you can view completed job applications, review the hiring process overview and FAQs and search for more jobs.

See the list of all positions applied to with one of the following statuses:

  1. Not Selected: No longer under consideration
  2. Application Under Review: Initial review of application
  3. Next Level Review: Additional review of application
  4. Assessment/Testing: Required testing in process
  5. Under Consideration: Participating in interviews and finalist for hire
  6. Pre-Employment Screenings: Selected for hire and pending required pre-employment contingencies
  7. Processing Hire: Successfully completed preemployment contingencies and cleared to start

Candidates will be notified immediately when they are no longer in consideration for a position. Check your email regularly for communications

Acknowledge Your Job Offer

Once you have a job offer, you will need to acknowledge it in Workday.

View and Acknowledge a Job Offer

Sign In to your Workday account using your email and password you created (you can find those details in the Getting Started section above).

  1. Once you're on the Candidate Home page, go to My Tasks.
  2. Select and review the job offer letter.
  3. To accept the offer, click the I Accept checkbox, then click OK
  4. If you do not accept the offer or the offer needs to be modified, explain why in the Comments box, then click Don't Accept
