What Works Cities Certification Badge

What Works Cities helps local governments improve residents' lives by using data and evidence effectively to tackle pressing challenges. The What Works Cities Certification was awarded to cities for exceptional use of data to inform policy decisions, allocate funding, improve services, evaluate program effectiveness, and engage residents.

Digital Cities Survey 2025

The Center for Digital Government’s annual Digital Cities Survey recognizes cities that are propelling city government innovation to new heights. This year, the City and County of Denver won 10th pace in the “500,000 or more population” category.

Government Experience Awards

GovX awards logo 2025The GovX Awards recognize the achievements of states, cities and counties that have raised the bar on the experience of government services. This year’s awardees advanced digital service by rethinking how programs are designed and delivered — modernizing websites, expanding broadband access, and adopting tools such as generative AI, multilingual chatbots, single sign-on, live chat, and location-based services. The City and County of Denver won 1st pace in the “overall city government experience” category.

NATOA Government Programming Awards

NATOA logoThe National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) supports and serves the communications interests and needs of local governments. The NATOA Government Programming Awards honors excellence in broadcast, cable, multimedia, and electronic programming produced by local government agencies. This year, the Denver 8 TV team was recognized in multiple categories and won the award of excellence for our election coverage "Denver Decides: 2024 General Election Ballot Overview."

AI 50 Recognition

AI 50 logo The AI 50 recognition program highlights individuals and organizations making significant contributions to AI adoption and advancement in public sector agencies. The City and County of Denver was recognized for the Sunny chatbot. Sunny has streamlined resident communications, reduced 311 hold times and made government services available in 72 languages, all in compliance with the state’s comprehensive digital accessibility legislation.

Government Experience Awards

GovX 2024 award logo The GovX Awards recognize the achievements of states, cities and counties that have raised the bar on the experience of government services. This year's winners have redesigned websites and enhanced services by integrating AI technology, providing single sign-on, constituent and customer service platforms and systems, and inclusive technologies such as enhanced accessibility, mobility features, and broadband provision and transparency. The City and County of Denver won 5th pace in the “overall city government experience” category.

SIPA GovGrants Program

SIPA GovGrants logoThe Statewide Internet Portal Authority (SIPA) provides efficient and effective services for residents through modern business practices and innovative technology solutions. The SIPA GovGrants Program provides funding and support to innovative government technology projects at all levels of government across Colorado. This year, Denver Technology Services was awarded over $733,600 to develop a natural language smart IVR system and to build a digital streaming platform.

APEX Project of the Year Award

Apex Tech Awards 2024 logo

Colorado Technology Association’s 2024 APEX Awards recognize individuals and companies that shine in the technology industry. The APEX Project of the Year award is given to a project, implemented by an innovative IT department, that solved a business problem with strategic objectives and innovation and overcame obstacles, met goals, and demonstrated team collaboration. This year, the City and County of Denver’s Automation Center of Excellence program won the APEX Project of the Year award.
