Denver to celebrate GIS Day with event on November 20

Denver’s Department of Technology Services plays the pivotal role of implementing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in the city. To recognize these efforts, Technology Services, in partnership with other city agency GIS professionals and regional partners, will hold its 23rd annual GIS Day celebration on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building (201 W. Colfax Ave.).
This year’s event will focus on GIS use and real-world application within the city, showcasing a wide range of GIS products, tools, and applications. Throughout the day there will be vendor displays, exhibits, a map gallery, food, and a raffle. This event is free and open to the public. Note: Exhibits will be on display from Nov. 18 to Nov. 22 in honor of Geography Awareness Week.
Keynote (10:30 a.m.)
- The Evolution of Imagery in Mapping and GIS – this presentation will focus on the transformative capabilities of computer vision techniques, AI, and Machine Learning.
Student Map Awards and Lightning Talks (beginning at 11 a.m.)
