SWM and DPS Waste Diversion Partnership

Denver Solid Waste Management (SWM) proudly provides 90,000 students in 207 Denver Public Schools with recycling service. More than 40 of these schools also receive compost collection. SWM works extensively with DPS to educate students, staff, and parents about the importance of waste reduction, reuse, recycling and composting.

Composting in DPS

SWM offers guidance and training for proper composting. Schools collect food scraps and yard debris, which SWM transports to a local composting facility to create finished compost. This process diverts waste from landfills and enriches the soil.
