Harvard Gulch Trail

DeBoer Park Bridge

Design complete; construction scheduled November 2025 - March 2026. Find detour information

DeBoer Park Project Background

In June 2023, the bridge was found to have critical structural issues which could not be repaired and required a complete replacement of the bridge. The existing bridge does not meet modern standards and requires a new design, which has added to the project timeline. Currently under design, the new bridge must comply with all local, state, and federal requirements. Because it is located in the Harvard Gulch floodplain, construction must be completed within the low-flow season of October to April. Pending weather and project funding, the new bridge is expected to be complete by Summer 2026.

Sept. 17, 2025 Public Meeting:

Denver Parks & Recreation, the Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) and the Mile High Flood District (MHFD) hosted a virtual meeting for trail users to learn the latest updates and construction schedule for the DeBoer Park bridge replacement, channel restoration, and stormwater infrastructure upgrades.

Regional Trail Detours

When implementing trail improvements, construction may require temporary detours. DPR is committed to providing the safest detours available for the shortest amount of time necessary to minimize impacts to users. Although we make every attempt to keep the public informed about the status of our trails, park walks and other amenities, there are times when they must be closed immediately and may not be noted on our website.  Please be aware of unforeseen conditions due to weather or other unexpected events and be prepared to use alternate routes if necessary.
