Denver has activated additional cold weather shelter overnight from 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27 through 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28 at the McNichols Civic Center Building, 144 W. Colfax Ave.
Beginning February 20, 2024: Denver Recreation Center hours will be modified. To accommodate new schedules, spring program registration will open Tuesday, March 5 at noon. Denver Recreation Centers are closed on city-observed holidays. Centers and pools can also close unexpectedly due to power outages or other unforeseen maintenance issues. Outdoor pools close during inclement weather when lightning is nearby or temperatures are forecasted to remain below 65 degrees. Unexpected closures typically last several hours or less and may not be posted online. To verify center schedules and hours of operation, please call the facility directly.
Johnson is a Neighborhood Level recreation center located in the northwest area near I-70 and H-265. This facility features a full court gym for basketball and volleyball, weight and cardio equipment, and a group fitness studio offering classes such as Zumba® (view the center activity sheet below).
This center's Racquetball Court is permanently CLOSED as of 12/20/19 to be repurposed as a boxing studio.
Johnson Recreation Center offers a free meal program for youth, along with free membership for youth through the MY Denver Card program. This center also offers Active Older Adult (AOA) classes as well as a free membership for residents ages 60+ through the MY Denver Prime program. View the facility photo gallery.
