Rocky Mountain Lake Park is located in northwest Denver at the intersection of Lowell and 46th. The Park features a nearly 23 acre lake surrounded by an asphalt multi-use trail and an established tree canopy. Originally an Elevate Denver Bond project to remove and replace just a portion of the existing deteriorated asphalt trail with a new concrete multi-use trail, the project has grown considerably through city agency partnerships.

Denver Parks and Rec (DPR) identified additional funding to improve the permitted picnic site by incorporating new picnic tables and barbeque grills. DPR’s Natural Areas program has provided new funding for bluegrass conversion area and a soft surface trail along the south extent of the lake, lake edge stabilization efforts near the roundabout, and additional lake edge enhancements and fishing access points on the east and north side of the lake. Lastly, in late 2019, DPR and the Department of Transpiration & Infrastructure (DOTI) Sidewalk Gap program partnered to supplement the original Elevate Bond funding to add the remaining extent of deteriorated asphalt walks to the project’s replacement scope and also improve and expand the crossings on 46th for greater neighborhood connectivity. The partnership between the City agencies will see almost 1.5 miles of new concrete multi-use trail and .5 miles of new soft surface trail completed at the Park.
