Phase 1 of the Arkins Promenade will convert Arkins Court, from 35th to 38th Avenues, into a new linear park that provides pedestrian connectivity from Globeville Landing Park to Arkins Park along the South Platte River corridor. Improvements will include park amenities such as a river theater and an elevated walkway along the river, public art, a small play area, seating areas, shade and landscaping. The park is designed to reduce impervious paved surfaces and add landscape areas that clean stormwater before it reaches the River.
This project is largely funded by the Elevate Denver Bond Program approved by voters in 2017. Project partners include the Greenway Foundation, the RiNo Arts District and adjacent developments. Design was competed at the end of 2019. Construction is anticipated to begin in September 2020 with the permanent closure of Arkins Court, from 35th to 38th Avenues, at the end of August 2020, and be completed in the winter of 2021.
