Rosamond Park Improvements

grassy meadow and playground at Rosamond Park

Project Scope

Rosamond Park is a 35-acre community park located in the Hampden South neighborhood, off East Quincy Ave and South Tamarac Drive. Rosamond Park was identified as an Elevate Denver and Rise Bond project with the scope including replacement of the existing playground and basketball court (Elevate Denver Bond) and replacement of the tennis courts and lighting (Rise Bond). Additional project scope being evaluated in the design includes conversion of approximately 30,000 square feet of bluegrass turf into a native grass and shrub area adjacent to Goldsmith Gulch.

The project includes concept design and design development and will conclude with the design being fully constructed for the park users to enjoy. The beginning phases of the project will identify opportunities for enlarging the playground to add capacity and enhance play value to complement the park and surrounding site context.

Project Updates

October 2024

Rosamond Park Tennis Courts have run into a construction delay and the tennis court surfacing cannot be applied until Spring 2025. Due to this delay, the courts will not be complete until Summer 2025. While the construction fencing will be removed in the next month, and landscaping will have finished, the courts will remain closed until they can be fully completed. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to bring these upgraded courts to the neighborhood.

August 2023

Denver Parks & Recreation (DPR) is excited to announce that Phase I of construction at Rosamond Park began August 2023. Rosamond Park will receive a variety of upgrades and renovations including a new playground and basketball court. The playground footprint will be expanded with new play features for all ages. Adjacent to the playground, a new full size court with posts and backboards will be installed. Lastly, as part of Denver's resiliency goals an area near Goldsmith Gulch will transition from a turf to native landscape.

May 2023

Denver Parks and Recreation (DPR) is preparing for the start of construction, which will take place in two phases. Phase I includes the playground, basketball court, and turf conversation to native landscaping along Goldsmith Gulch. Phase II includes the tennis courts. Prior scope for the tennis court improvements included the conversion of one tennis court to four pickleball courts, however, DPR is currently evaluating standards for pickleball sites, including avoiding conflicts with other sport court users. Therefore, pickleball will not be included in these court improvements as originally planned in Phase II. DPR hopes to be able to locate pickleball courts in Rosamond Park in the future, as the community expressed support for pickleball in this location.

Phase I is anticipated to begin this Summer 2023. Phase II will utilize RISE bond funding that will be available in 2024 for project implementation. We apologize for this unexpected change and are working to ensure the project is completed as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding.
