Permits are required prior to performing tree removal, tree planting, tree injection, or attaching material to any public or protected tree. Permits are free but must be approved and issued by Denver's Office of the City Forester. if you are hiring a licensed contractor to perform tree work, they are responsible for obtaining the permit.
Request a permit by filling out the online form linked below. Ensure all required information has been included before submitting the form, or the permit will be denied and possibly delay scheduled work. Once submitted, it may take up to 5 business days to review the permit request. If you have not been contacted or not received a permit after 5 business days, contact the Forestry office at forestry@denvergov.org.

Download the Demolition and Construction Request Form. Please email the completed form to ForestryResDev@denvergov.org. Inspections will be completed by the end of the fifth full business day after receipt of the request.
