Denver Parks and Recreation celebrated the completion and the grand opening of the Environmental Learning for Kids (ELK) Education Center at the newly developed Montbello Open Space. The new building features classrooms, office and support spaces; the ELK Education Center will provide the community with educational programming as well as youth and family engagement.

“Kids and families will not only have access to this amazing open space but will also benefit from the ongoing programs offered by ELK staff, who care deeply about our natural environment and all its inhabitants”, said Happy Haynes, Executive Director of Denver Parks and Recreation. “Our city is diverse and vibrant. Through the Game Plan for a Healthy City, our strategic plan, we will continue to create gathering spaces that embrace Denver’s history, culture, and diverse communities”.

This project was funded by a grant from Great Outdoors Colorado and Environmental Learning for Kids, along with Park Legacy and city funds.
