OSE Needs Event Organizer Feedback on Waste No More!
Published on August 14, 2023
On August 9, the Office of Special Events held a focus group that included event organizers, representatives from the Waste No More Task Force (WNM), and other City agencies to gather feedback and discuss proposed recommendations on the permitted event section of the Waste No More ordinance. The feedback and recommendations will be presented to City Council in September for consideration regarding the implementation and timeline roll out of permitted events section of the ordinance.
For those to attend, the recorded focus group is linked below, along with a quick 4-minute post-focus group survey to submit feedback or to ask questions. The survey results, along with feedback from the meeting, will be compiled and sent to City Council for consideration.
If you attended the meeting but still have questions or comments, the post-focus group survey can be used for those purposes as well.

As a reminder, the Waste No More ballot initiative passed in November 2022 with 70% of Denver voters in favor of adding the initiative to City ordinance (scroll to Sec. 48-138. – Special Event Requirements for Recyclables and Organic Material Collection for ballot language pertaining to events). The ordinance is currently in effect and requires three-stream waste collection for businesses and residents, including special events. As an event organizer, you have a stake in how the WNM ordinance is rolled out.
