Career Service Board

The Career Service (CS) Board consists of five Denver citizens appointed by the Mayor for five-year staggered terms. The Board provides oversight for the Office of Human Resources. Its charge is to maintain the merit system and is responsible for setting policy, considering appeals and making rule changes that enhance the work environment.

Classification Notices

Classification Notices are proposed changes to the classification and pay plan. They must be approved through the Ordinance process before any changes will go into effect.

Public Hearing Notices

Notices are posted ahead of the public hearings of the Career Service Board for proposed changes to employee benefits, prevailing wages, and adoption, amendment or repeal of a career service rule.

Career Service Rules and Revisions

The Career Service Rules (CS Rules) govern employment with the City and County of Denver; including pay, classification, transfers, dispute resolution, promotions, training, and other personnel policies.

Career Service public notices must be posted at two locations to be in compliance with City Charter and Career Service Rules:

  • Webb Municipal Building: 201 West Colfax Ave., Office of Human Resources First Floor Office
  • City and County of Denver Building: 1485 Bannock St., First Floor public notice bulletin board near the elevators
