The men and women of the Fire Prevention Division are dedicated to promoting life safety throughout the City and County of Denver. 

We do this through continuous and efficient fire protection practices that enforce the Denver Fire Code, a code based on international fire safety standards and sharpened through local experience. These fire prevention practices include comprehensive programs of inspections, permits, life-safety system testing, licensing, public event safety, and hazardous material code enforcement. Below are the different areas regarding fire safety processes and procedures, including the process for obtaining a fire safety operation permit. You will also find information on plan review's, construction, system testing and occupancy. 

 

Fire Safety Operational Permit Application Process

The Fire Prevention Division of the Denver Fire Department issues Operational Permits, which allow the applicant to conduct an operation or a business for which a permit is required.

Fire Safety Operational Permit Groups

The Fire Prevention Division issues Operational Permits under the provisions of the Denver Amendment Code. A permit issued under the provisions of the Code shall continue until revoked or for such a period of time designated therein at the time of issuance.

Fire Safety Systems Licensing

Denver Fire Department licenses shall be required for the design, installation, modification, inspection, and testing of all life safety and conveyance systems and equipment.

Plan Review, Construction, Systems Testing & Occupancy

A property owner or owner's authorized agent who intends to conduct an operation or business, or install or modify systems and equipment regulated by the Denver Fire Code, or to cause any such work to be performed, shall first make application to the Fire Code Official and obtain the required permit.

  • Apply for Conveyance Permits and Submit Documents
  • Pay fees for Operational Permits, Conveyances, and Inspections
  • Review Occupancy Inspection Information
