Denver Distributes Masks and PPE to Denver Microbusinesses
Published on November 24, 2021
DENVER - The City and County of Denver made available nearly 5,000 masks and 500 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits to Denver’s smallest and most vulnerable businesses, ensuring the PPE could be obtained before Denver’s recent Public Health Order went into effect this morning.
The businesses receiving these supplies were selected based on their location within one of Denver Economic Development (DEDO)’s NEST neighborhoods as well as previous demonstrated need from DEDO’s 2020 PPE program. The masks and PPE kits were provided through a joint effort between DEDO and the Department of Public Health & Environment.
“Supporting our local businesses and helping them keep their customers and workers safe and healthy has been one of our guiding values throughout this pandemic,” Mayor Michael B. Hancock said. “With mask requirements returning for the next several weeks to help reduce the pressure on our hospitals, these masks and PPE supplies will help these business owners continue to serve their communities in a safe and healthy environment."
Recipient businesses noted a great need for the protective equipment and said they are eager to have it on hand when they open today as well as for Small Business Saturday on November 27, 2021.
