Monaco Parkway over Cherry Creek Bridge Replacement Project

Project Overview

The Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI), in collaboration with Kraemer North America, is scheduled to begin a bridge replacement and rehabilitation project on Monaco Parkway over Cherry Creek in October. This project will remove the 60-year-old bridge over Cherry Creek and replace with a new bridge structure, tie-in both directions of Cherry Creek Drive, and repave Cherry Creek Trail and widen sidewalks over the bridge.

DOTI is investing approximately $12.7M in this bridge replacement project with funding approved by voters as part of the Elevate Denver Bond.

Traffic Impacts beginning July 10

North Cherry Creek Drive will be fully closed west of Monaco Parkway. Cherry Creek Drives to the east will be reopened with 'right-in, right-out' access only, with left turns restricted.

  • N. Cherry Creek Drive access to Monaco Parkway from the west: Turn north on Kearney St, continue to Mississippi Ave and then go east to access both directions of Monaco Parkway.
  • Monaco Parkway access to N. Cherry Creek Drive to the west: Continue north on Monaco Parkway to Mississippi Avenue and turn west, go to Kearney St and turn south to access N. Cherry Creek Drive.
  • N. Cherry Creek Drive through access across Monaco Parkway: Go north on Oneida St. on Mississippi Ave, turn west and continue to Kearney St, turn south to access N. Cherry Creek Drive on the west. And vice versa to access the east side.

Access to Cook Park Recreation Center will be maintained from the east, via Quebec Street. Access to Place Bridge Academy and residential streets off N. Cherry Creek Drive will be maintained from the east, via Oneida Street and Florida Avenue.

Monaco Parkway Bridge over Cherry Creek Replacement Project: Current traffic configuration as of Summer 2025

The speed limit on Monaco Parkway has been reduced to 30 mph within the work zone. Please slow down, heed the speed limit, watch out for workers and equipment, and leave plenty of space between vehicles.

Trail and Pedestrian Impacts

The crosswalks on the north and south sides of the bridge across Monaco Parkway are closed. Please use signalized intersections north (Mississippi Avenue) and south (Florida Avenue) to safely cross Monaco Parkway.

Cherry Creek Trail under Monaco Parkway is reopened. Trail users may experience intermittent flagging on the trail below the bridge to support overhead work.

Trail connection on the east side of Monaco Parkway and the trail along North Cherry Creek Drive has been closed to support the next phase of construction through the summer. Various trail impacts are expected through the project's duration in summer 2026.

  • New detour for Cherry Creek Trail to/from east side of Monaco Parkway - Trail users will be detoured under the bridge to the western side and will cross Monaco Parkway using the crosswalk at the signalized intersection, Florida Avenue, to access the eastern side.
