Monaco Parkway over Cherry Creek Bridge Replacement Project
Project Overview
The Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI), in collaboration with Kraemer North America, is scheduled to begin a bridge replacement and rehabilitation project on Monaco Parkway over Cherry Creek in October. This project will remove the 60-year-old bridge over Cherry Creek and replace with a new bridge structure, tie-in both directions of Cherry Creek Drive, and repave Cherry Creek Trail and widen sidewalks over the bridge.
DOTI is investing approximately $12.7M in this bridge replacement project with funding approved by voters as part of the Elevate Denver Bond.
Ongoing Traffic and Trail Impacts:
To facilitate reconstruction of the western half of the new Monaco Parkway bridge over Cherry Creek, the current temporary traffic configuration will remain implemented through spring 2026. See configuration details and map, below.
- Monaco Parkway traffic remains reduce in each direction of travel to a single lane.
- Cherry Creek Drives remain open east of Monaco Parkway to 'right-in, right-out' access only, with left turns restricted.
- North Cherry Creek Drive is fully closed west of Monaco Parkway, see below for detour information.
Full closure of North Cherry Creek Drive, west of Monaco Parkway.
- N. Cherry Creek Drive access to Monaco Parkway from the west: Turn north on Kearney St, continue to Mississippi Ave and then go east to access both directions of Monaco Parkway
- Monaco Parkway access to N. Cherry Creek Drive to the west: Continue north on Monaco Parkway to Mississippi Ave and turn west, go to Kearney St and turn south to access N. Cherry Creek Drive
- N. Cherry Creek Drive through access across Monaco Parkway: Go north on Oneida St to Mississippi Ave, turn west and continue to Kearney St, turn south to access N. Cherry Creek Drive on the west. And vice Versa to access the east side.
The speed limit on Monaco Parkway has been reduced to 30 mph within the work zone. Please slow down, heed the speed limit, watch out for workers and equipment, and leave plenty of space between vehicles.
Trail Impacts: The Cherry Creek Trail under Monaco Parkway has been fully reopened. Trail users should expect intermittent flagging operations for overhead bridge operations.
- The connection to the western side of Monaco Parkway from the Cherry Creek Trail has been closed. Trail users will use the eastern connection to Monaco Parkway and go west via the crosswalk at the signalized intersection, Florida Avenue. See detour map below.
Pedestrian Access: The crosswalks on the north and south sides of the bridge across Monaco Parkway are closed. Please use signalized intersections north (Mississippi Avenue) and south (Florida Avenue) to safely cross Monaco Parkway
