The Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI), in collaboration with Kraemer North America, is scheduled to begin a bridge replacement and rehabilitation project on Monaco Parkway over Cherry Creek in October. This project will remove the 60-year-old bridge over Cherry Creek and replace with a new bridge structure, tie-in both directions of Cherry Creek Drive, and repave Cherry Creek Trail and widen sidewalks over the bridge.
DOTI is investing approximately $12.7M in this bridge replacement project with funding approved by voters as part of the Elevate Denver Bond.
North Cherry Creek Drive will be fully closed west of Monaco Parkway. Cherry Creek Drives to the east will be reopened with 'right-in, right-out' access only, with left turns restricted.
Access to Cook Park Recreation Center will be maintained from the east, via Quebec Street. Access to Place Bridge Academy and residential streets off N. Cherry Creek Drive will be maintained from the east, via Oneida Street and Florida Avenue.
The crosswalks on the north and south sides of the bridge across Monaco Parkway are closed. Please use signalized intersections north (Mississippi Avenue) and south (Florida Avenue) to safely cross Monaco Parkway.
Cherry Creek Trail under Monaco Parkway is reopened. Trail users may experience intermittent flagging on the trail below the bridge to support overhead work.
Trail connection on the east side of Monaco Parkway and the trail along North Cherry Creek Drive has been closed to support the next phase of construction through the summer. Various trail impacts are expected through the project's duration in summer 2026.
