2026 Pedestrian Crossing Construction

Project Overview

This spring/summer, DOTI is constructing crossing improvements that will make it safer and more comfortable for people walking and rolling to cross streets to important destinations like schools, trails, and parks. Locations include:

  • W Jewell Ave and S Navajo St: Adding a crosswalk, curb extensions, and push-button activated flashing lights (RRFBs), as well as some sidewalks in Ruby Hill Park in the Ruby Hill neighborhood (Council District 2 & 7)
  • Osage St & W 12th Ave: Adding a crosswalk, curb extensions, and improving curb ramps in the Lincoln Park neighborhood (Council District 3)
  • W Bayaud Ave & S Utica St: Adding a crosswalk, new curb ramps, striping and signage in the Barnum West neighborhood - to make a safer crossing for the Weir Gulch Trail (Council District 3)
  • E Yale St & Highline Canal Trail (just east of Monaco St Parkway): Adding curb extensions and push-button activated flashing lights (RRFBs) in Hampden and Goldsmith (Council District 4)
  • E Yale St & Highline Canal Trail (just west of S Quebec St): Adding curb extensions and push-button activated flashing lights (RRFBs) in Hampden and Goldsmith (Council District 4)
  • S Fairmount Dr & E Bayaud Ave: Adding a crosswalk, curb extensions, push-button activated flashing lights (RRFBs) in Lowry Field (Council District 5)
  • E Alameda Ave and S Franklin St: Adding a crosswalk, pedestrian refuge island, and push-button activated flashing lights (RRFBs) in the Washington Park neighborhood (Council District 6)
  • S Steele St & E Alameda Ave: Adding a crosswalk, curb extensions, pedestrian refuge island, and push-button activated flashing lights (RRFBs) in the Belcaro neighborhood (Council District 6)
  • S Steele St between E Alameda and S Monroe Way: Adding markings to the street to indicate where people bicycling and scooting should travel in the Belcaro neighborhood (Council District 6)
  • Montview Blvd & Valentia St: Adding a crosswalk and curb extensions in the E Colfax and Central Park neighborhoods (Council District 8)
  • Montview Blvd & Trenton St: Adding a crosswalk, pedestrian refuge island, and push-button activated flashing lights (RRFBs) in the East Colfax and Central Park neighborhoods (Council District 8)
  • Martin Luther King Blvd & Birch St: Closing the median cut-through, adding crosswalks, and adding push-button activated flashing lights (RRFBs) in Northeast Park Hill and North Park Hill (Council District 8 & 9)
  • Bannock St & W 10th Ave: Adding a crosswalk, curb extensions, and a pedestrian refuge island in the Civic Center neighborhood (Council District 10)
  • Lincoln St & E 11th Ave: Adding a crosswalk, curb extensions, and a protected intersection for bicyclists and scooter riders in the Capitol Hill & Civic Center neighborhoods (Council District 10)
  • Maxwell Pl & Atchison Way: Adding a crosswalk and curb extensions in the Montbello neighborhoods (Council District 11)
  • Evans Ave and alleyway between S Marion St and S Lafayette St: Adding a HAWK (High-intensity Activated crosswalk) signal, a concrete pedestrian refuge island and  updated signage (District 6). 
  • E Mexico Ave and S Downing St: Addingcrosswalks, paint and post bulbouts, flex posts to medians, stop bars as well as a push-button activated flashing lights (RRFBs). DOTI will also be adding stop bars on Mexico Ave (District 6)
