Bronco & 19th Street Pedestrian Bridge Rehabs and Guardrail Repairs

The Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, in collaboration with Concrete Express Inc. has completed bridge rehabilitation work on the Bronco Pedestrian Bridge over the Platte River . Work included removal and replacement of expansion joints, concrete deck repairs, minor concrete repairs, bollard installation, and bridge painting.

Also completed, 19th Street Pedestrian Bridge rehabilitation work and guardrail repairs. This work included bridge joint replacement, concrete deck repairs, concrete pavement repairs, deck drain replacement, pedestrian railing repairs, bollards, removal of the timber walkway, spot painting, and an anchorage system under the bridge.

Travel and Safety Improvements at Broadway & I-25

Project Summary

DOTI has made travel and safety improvements at Broadway & I-25 that include replacing the existing at-grade southbound on-ramp to I-25 from Broadway with an elevated ramp to ease vehicle congestion and enhance safety. Other work improved access to the I-25 & Broadway Station for people who walk and bike.

Completed Milestones

  • Opened new elevated on-ramp to southbound I-25 from Broadway.
  • Extended Bannock Road south of Exposition Avenue, providing access to the RTD Park-n-Ride from the north. This includes: improved lighting, landscaping and a new multi-use pathway. 
  • Completed sanitary sewer and storm sewer work throughout the area.
  • Constructed a major portion of the elevated on-ramp to southbound I-25 , including two new bridges.
  • Constructed a temporary parking lot, W. Exposition from Broadway to Bannock and elevated I-25 on-ramp across Broadway.
  • Reconstructed E. Exposition from Broadway to Lincoln and installed new traffic signals at both intersections.
  • Reconstructed east sidewalk between Ohio and Kentucky.
  • Reconstruct Kentucky Avenue, combining the existing intersection with the elevated southbound on-ramp to I-25.
  • Install new traffic signals at Ohio Avenue (between Broadway and Lincoln Street) and at Broadway and Kentucky Avenue.
  • Reconstruct local streets including Lincoln, Broadway, Kentucky and Ohio
  • Connect the Broadway bike lane to the RTD Broadway station.
  • Extend bikeway from Center to Exposition.
  • Expand multi-use pathways for pedestrians and cyclists.

By Spring 2026, this project will:

The I-25 & Broadway Station is the second busiest in the RTD system and supports a high frequency of bus travel along the Broadway corridor, connecting Englewood to downtown Denver.
