Denver – Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) is celebrating a significant achievement as it marks National Public Works Week, while giving residents a preview of the infrastructure improvements it plans to deliver over the next few years.

National Public Works Week is an annual celebration of the American Public Works Association (APWA) that highlights the importance and criticality of public works in people’s everyday lives. DOTI staff certainly personifies this year’s theme of “People, Purpose, Presence,” being ever-present in Denver’s communities, improving safety, mobility, infrastructure, and quality of life.

In addition to honoring its employees this week, DOTI is celebrating its Solid Waste and Wastewater Management divisions for being officially accredited by the APWA, confirming they’re operating in alignment with industry best practices. The accreditation follows a lengthy and comprehensive review of policies and procedures in which DOTI was also specifically recognized for model practices in community participation and engagement, waste reduction education and its employee safety recognition program.

DOTI is also taking the opportunity to reach out to residents this week to share an interactive map that highlights its six-year work plan and the capital transportation projects that are currently in motion in active planning, design, or construction phases (note that annual maintenance activities such as signage and striping are not included on the map).

Example projects that will be starting or wrapping up in the 2025/2026 timeframe include:

Hampden Avenue Intersection Improvements (starting summer 2025)

West Jewell Ave Bike and Pedestrian Bridge over Santa Fe (starting summer 2025)

Green Valley Ranch Boulevard Safety & Travel Enhancements (completion summer 2025)

West Colfax Pedestrian Crossing & Transit Improvements (completion summer/fall 2025)

Broadway and I-25 Travel & Safety Improvements (expected completion spring 2026)

Alameda Underpass Rehabilitation and Multiuse Path (expected completion spring 2026)
