Households may only apply for TRUA assistance if they have a current Demand for Rent (Demand Notice) from their landlord, a Court Summons to appear in Denver County Court, a notice from the Denver Sheriff's Department or other document showing evidence of an active eviction case (FED) at the time of application. A Demand Notice must be current, legally enforceable, and contain the following information at minimum:
- Amount Due
- Date Served
- Reason for issuing the Demand Notice
- Property address
- What is required to resolve the Demand Notice
- Deadline to resolve the Demand Notice
- Signature of Landlord
An email request for payment from the landlord is NOT considered an acceptable form of demand notice.
