Community Counts! Class: Access to Community Services

CTAT, LLC, with funding from the Denver Human Services mill levy, invites community partners to take part in Community Counts! A Diversity Partnership Program — Strengthening Our Community to Include People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD).

Community Counts! classes are for community members who are interested in expanding their knowledge of including individuals with I/DD in valuable roles within their organizations, businesses, services, and programs. Join us for thought-provoking discussions on diversity and inclusion and explore how including people experiencing I/DD can change our Denver community. Panel members with I/DD, as well as knowledgeable facilitators, will help participants understand the importance of belonging.

“Access to Community Services” is for a variety of community service providers, such as transportation, housing, builders, health/medical with a desire to provide improved access to their services. The class will include information from the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), discuss practical strategies to ensure and improve access, present case studies of best practice access in contrast with access that only meets a bare minimum or needs improvement. Participants will be engaged in problem solving throughout the class.
