Helping Seniors In Our Community

District 4 is home to one of the largest senior populations in the City. Our seniors and their needs are incredibly diverse. For those active retired people who would like to be more engaged in the community and for seniors who need assistance to maintain their quality of life check out the resources below.

General Resources

Housing, Chores, and In-Home Care

  • Sunshine Home Share Colorado is a nonprofit organization working to improve the quality of life of older adults and strengthen communities through a safe home-sharing model, supportive economic empowerment, and connections to resources and services. Sunshine is funded by the City of Denver and is a creative affordable housing solution. Many older adults struggle to pay for rising costs including property taxes and face challenges trying to maintain their homes and yards.

    Home sharing is a way to be part of the affordable housing solution and help someone in need while earning extra income. The nonprofit home-sharing process is designed to support sharing your home safely while finding a housemate who is a good fit. Social worker staff support the slow, safe, and thoughtful home-sharing process creating a mutually beneficial relationship between the home provider and home seeker.   • Jewish Family Service -Programs and Services to help older adults stay supported, connected and engaged. 
  • A Little Help - Help with chores, errands yard clean up.  Membership based but will work with all incomes.
