Gas Station Setbacks

After Council voted down a rezoning application that would have put a gas station next to residents in Council District 5, Councilwoman Sawyer is considering possible legislation to change the laws regarding gas stations that are in close proximity to residential areas. Click here to view the presentation from 2020.(PDF, 801KB)

Councilmember Sawyer is co-sponsoring legislation with Councilmembers Romero Campbell and Kashmann to thoughtfully address the placement of gas stations in Denver. The proposal includes prohibits gas stations:

• within a 1/4 mile of RTD light rail stations
• within 1/4 mile of other gas stations
• within 300ft of a protected district (which is defined under Article 13 of the Denver Zoning Code)
