Submit Your Green Buildings Ordinance Documentation

If your project is over 25,000 square feet of gross floor area, then the Green Buildings Ordinance (GBO) applies, and you must submit through the GBO review process. Your building or roof permit application will need to include documentation confirming how your project meets the ordinance’s requirements, including any exemptions claimed.

New Buildings

Step 2.Gather Required Documents

Ensure all submittal requirements listed in the PDF guide checklists have been provided in your application documents.

Step 3.Submit Your Application Online

Compile required documents and save all files as PDFs using the following file naming convention:

DocumentName_Address_Date.pdf.

Make sure documents prepared by a licensed architect, engineer, or surveyor have a valid electronic signature(PDF, 1023KB) visible on the file's first page and a seal on each sheet.

  • Sign in to e-permits
  • In e-permits, go to Development Services > Apply for a permit
  • Select “Building Log” under “Submit Building Plans for Review”
  • Follow the prompts to submit your contact information, project details, and upload required documents

Existing Buildings

Step 3.Submit Your Application Online

Compile required documents and save all files as PDFs using the following file naming convention:

GBO Roof Permits

Step 1.Roof Permit

Fill out the standard roof permit application(PDF, 885KB).

Step 2.Submit Your Application via Email

To request a roofing permit for a GBO approved project, email the following information to plan.review@denvergov.org.

  • A completed roof permit application(PDF, 885KB),
  • the original LOG or COMMCON number for the approved superstructure, and
  • state in the body of the email that the project is a new building and has already been approved for GBO compliance.

Note: Do not submit your application online through e-permits. This will delay the issuance of your roof permit.
