Welcome to the Energize Denver Technical Guidance. The Technical Guidance documents are meant to be a plain-language version of the Rules and Regulations that serve to make the complexities of compliance more approachable for building owners. For most building owners and contractors, the Technical Guidance should be your first stop for detailed explanations of how to work through any part of the Energize Denver compliance process. 

While the Rules and Regulations outline the details for implementing Energize Denver, the Technical Guidance provides how-to instructions, examples of the rules in action, and step-by-step instructions for navigating the Rules. For example, the Rules outline the process for getting a Timeline Extension approved, and the Technical Guidance shows you exactly what documents to submit and how to fill them out.

To keep the Technical Guidance shorter and easier to read, we split our guidance into three separate documents. Choose the version that matches your property type:
  • Large Buildings
  • Small Buildings
  • Manufacturing, Agricultural, and Industrial (MAI) Buildings

The Technical Guidance can be updated at any time. However, we usually publish new versions to support each update to the Rules and Regulations. The most recent version was posted on September 1, 2026.
