Diversity and inclusion badge

To qualify for a diversity and inclusion badge, you must select at least 10 activities from the list below. If you have completed a diversity and inclusion activity that is not listed, you can submit it as an "other" activity. Only one "other" activity will count toward the minimum number required to earn the badge. In this context, diverse populations include people of various races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, and physical and intellectual abilities.

  • Educate all new and current employees with diversity and inclusion training.
  • Take part in a mentorship program for diverse entrepreneurs and aspiring executives.
  • Provide paid internship opportunities to diverse people.
  • Host or sponsor a hiring fair geared toward diverse people.
  • Volunteer for or donate to a charitable organization that focuses on supporting diverse populations.
    • Tips: Donations should total at least $2,000 or at least 20 volunteer hours.
  • Create an employee diversity and inclusion committee. The committee advises on diversity and inclusion efforts for your business.
  • Post job openings on websites and forums that cater to diverse populations.
  • Translate written materials into Spanish or other languages.
  • Donate to a school or educational program that focuses on a diverse population.
    • Tips: Donations should total at least $2,000.
  • Upgrade ADA compliance on your facility.
  • Publish a gender pay analysis for your company.
  • Provide opportunities and incentives for your staff to learn another language. This can include sign language.
    • Tips: Incentives cannot include free marijuana.
  • At least one customer-facing or human resources staff member is fluent in a second language. This can include sign language.
  • Create a scholarship for diverse people interested in working in the cannabis industry.
    • Tips: The scholarship should total at least $2,000.
  • Sponsor or volunteer for a charitable event benefitting one or more diverse communities.
    • Tips: Donations should total at least $2,000 or at least 20 volunteer hours.
  • Develop a plan to elevate diverse employees into leadership positions in your business.
  • Offer at least 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave to employees.
  • Hire or choose a diversity manager to oversee diversity and inclusion efforts for your business.
  • Offer benefit plans that are inclusive of diverse populations. For example, paid parental leave that includes adoption leave, health care coverage for transgender-inclusive care, birth control, and abortion care, etc.
  • Offer child care support for employees. For example, child care flexible spending accounts as a benefit.
  • Pay for tickets and travel for diverse employees or entrepreneurs to attend trade shows, conferences, or other professional development opportunities.
  • Participate in The Blue Bench's Cannabis for Consent program.
  • Educate all new and current employees with sexual harassment training.
