Community engagement badge

To qualify for a community engagement badge, you must select at least 10 activities from the list below. If you have completed a community engagement activity that is not listed, you can submit it as an "other" activity. Only one "other" activity will count toward the minimum number required to earn the badge.
  • Educate employees about the history of the neighborhood where the business is located.
  • Sponsor a charitable event hosted by a Registered Neighborhood Organization or Business Improvement District.
  • Donate to or volunteer for a Registered Neighborhood Organization or Business Improvement District in your area.
  • Execute a good neighbor agreement with a Registered Neighborhood Organization.
    • Tips: A good neighbor agreement is a private agreement between a business and an RNO. It addresses issues such as noise, trash, parking, and other issues that could arise.
  • Organize or volunteer for a community cleanup event.
    • Tips: Volunteer time should total at least 20 hours.

  • Donate to or volunteer for a school or college in the community.
    • Tips: Donations should total at least $2,000 or at least 20 volunteer hours.
  • Donate to or volunteer for a charitable organization that provides substance abuse treatment services.
    • Tips: Donations should total at least $2,000 or at least 20 volunteer hours.
  • Donate to or volunteer for an organization that educates the public about substance abuse.
    • Tips: Donations should total at least $2,000 or at least 20 volunteer hours.
  • Become a member of your local chamber of commerce.
    • Tips: Find your local chamber of commerce by searching this directory.
  • Build or volunteer at a community garden in your community.
    • Tips: Volunteer time should total at least 20 hours.
  • Host or sponsor a voter registration drive.
    • Tips: Find voter registration drive information here.
  • Provide work opportunities for unhoused individuals.
  • Buy goods or services from a locally owned business.
    • Tips: Consider things such as catering, printing, maintenance services, supplies, etc.
  • Host a school supplies drive for a school in your community.
  • Host a supplies drive for unhoused individuals in your community.
  • Donate to or volunteer for an organization that provides free transportation services to elderly, disabled, or other individuals in your community.
    • Tips: Donations should total at least $2,000 or at least 20 volunteer hours.
  • Organize or volunteer for a community beautification project.
  • Organize an effort to shovel snow for seniors and people with disabilities in the community.
    • Tips: Volunteer time should total at least 20 hours.
  • Host a food drive for a food bank that serves the community.
