When to contact dispatch:

  • Report animal cruelty or neglect
  • Report an animal attack or bite
  • Report an aggressive animal
  • Report a stray animal
  • Report an injured stray or wild animal
  • Report other violations of Denver Municipal Code
  • Always call 9-1-1 if there is an (active) life-threatening emergency

 

When to contact 3-1-1 or submit an online request:

  • Report a barking dog (barking dog complaints cannot be submitted through dispatch)
  • Request leash law enforcement in Denver Parks
  • Ask questions about adoptable pets
  • Ask questions about retrieving your pet from our shelter
  • Ask questions about purchasing a dog license or other city permit

 

 

Hours of Operation

Adoptions

  • Monday – Friday | 11 a.m-6:30 p.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday | 11 a.m-4:30 p.m.

Adoption visitations must start at least an hour before closing. You can view animals until closing time.

Lost and Found

  • Monday – Friday | 11 a.m-6:30 p.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday | 11 a.m-4:30 p.m

Owner redemption and owner surrender paperwork must be started 30 minutes prior to closing. Self-service night drop-off kennels are available after hours. The night drop-off has a dedicated entrance, located to the left of our “Lost and Found” doors.

Field Services (investigations, enforcement, strays, etc.)

Animal Protection Officers are dispatched through Denver Police/Denver 911.

 

General response hours:

Monday – Friday: 7:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday: 8:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m.

Outside of these hours, on-call officers are available for emergency situations. Dispatch will determine whether to page an on-call Animal Protection Officer and/or send Denver Police, or hold the call until business hours.
