Love Wins for First Same-Sex Couple Married in Denver

Eighteen years ago, Fran and Anna Simon were both single and living in the Bay Area, and decided to give the “new online dating thing” a try. After their first date, Anna knew she found the love of her life. For Fran, it took a little bit longer — until the second date! — to feel the same way. Little did they know at the time that their love story would become an integral part of the fight for marriage equality in Colorado.

Anna and Fran were the first to be issued a civil union in 2013 and the first to receive a marriage license in 2014. The I Am Denver team sat down with the pair to talk about their years of activism and advocacy work for the LGBTQ community and how their lives have changed since.
