Resources for Partner Food Organizations

Hunger Free Colorado’s SNAP Outreach programs work to improve our state participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Hunger Free Colorado staff can visit multiple community locations to provide in-person assistance in the Denver Metro area. Additionally, they provide free training, tools, and support to community partners Statewide through our SNAP Partners Engaging in Application Services (PEAS) program.

Are your community members SNAP recipients? Help them maximize their benefits by telling them about Double Up Food Bucks. Help SNAP or P-EBT recipients get access to additional free fruits and vegetables through DUFB.

 Double Up Food Bucks Colorado

Partners, help spread the word about the DUFB program by using and sharing Nourish Colorado’s outreach toolkit. Double Up’s success is grounded in a network of partners who help spread the word. Nourish Colorado has a variety of downloadable outreach materials available in English and Spanish in the toolkit. You can also email them for paper copies at no cost.

The Colorado Department of Agriculture

• Colorado Farm Fresh Directory is an annual guide to Colorado farms, farmers' markets, roadside stands, u-picks, for fresh, in-season product.

East Denver Food Hub

• The East Denver Food Hub is located in Denver and will source local produce and also deliver custom orders and food boxes. 

Colo-Pac

• Colo-Pac is a local Denver produce broker who will often have a list of Colorado produce tailored specifically for food pantries and nonprofit organizations.

Colorado Department of Education Early Childhood Education Program

• Find farmers and producers that are part of a network that works with education and childcare partners.

Good Food Purchasing Producers

• Find a select list of Good Food Purchasing Producers that participate in the Good Food Purchasing Program in Denver and that offer foods that may be eligible to meet GFPP requirements.

There are several local and national organizations who can help provide delivery services to pantries and food assistance organizations.

Bondadosa

• Bondadosa provides delivery services to nonprofit food pantries and organizations focused on food access. Contact them directly to inquire about pricing and availability of our delivery services. They can offer partners last-mile deliveries.

Move for Hunger

•  Move for Hunger uses its network of moving partners to offer free delivery service of large donations to food banks and pantries in the Denver Metro Area. 

 Door Dash

• Door Dash offers opportunities to partner through Project Dash and make deliveries on behalf of food banks and pantries, community action agencies, and other social impact organizations. Partner organizations determine who receives deliveries, when deliveries will take place, and where the distribution site will be. Dashers transport items from the distribution site to the destination, and recipients receive updates via text message throughout the process.

They provide a level of analysis, detail, and guidance on issues affecting local areas that citywide plans cannot and help implement citywide plans at a local level.

• The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI)’s Denver Moves Everyone (DME) project amplifies the diverse voices of thousands of residents across all 78 neighborhoods in Denver. Centered on equity, DME advocates for increased investments in Denver’s transportation infrastructure to enhance access to essential resources, including food options, fostering a more connected and resilient community.

Department of Housing Stability (HOST)

Refer your clients to the DHS GIVE Center to get emergency assistance with the following resources. Referrals are strongly encouraged, access the form here. GIVE Center provides support with: Food access; Colorado vital document vouchers, including: Identification, Birth certificates death certificates; Hygiene items; Diapers (Baby / Adult); Resource navigation.

Including these best practices in your program operations could save you money by optimizing food purchases. These practices will also minimize food waste and provide an improved experience for clients by maximizing the usefulness and cultural relevance of food offered. 

DDPHE Food Rescue

• Sign up to receive monthly email updates from the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment (DDPHE) Food Systems Team.

• The Denver Sustainable Food Policy Council (SFPC) is an official board and commission of the City and County of Denver designated to make recommendations on food policy for the City. 
• Join the Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids Commission meeting or apply to join.
• Good Food Purchasing Program (GFPP) Coalition is a coalition of partners ensuring the successful implementation the City’s GFPP program to ensure city food purchases are values-aligned with Environmental sustainability; valued workforce; local economies; nutrition; fair treatment of animals; and racial equity.
• Denver Food Metro Food Resource Group hosts monthly calls for food assistance partners such as food pantries, food banks, and free meal programs. Sign up for the calls hosted on the first Tuesday of the month at 10:30am by contacting Lesly.Baesens@denvergov.org.
• Food in Communities (FIC) engages community partners in policy, systems, and environmental changes to food systems on the neighborhood scale.
