CHANGE TO PROCESS OF CORRECTING CLERICAL ERRORS IN THE DENVER ZONING CODE
Effective January 5, 2015
CPD will no longer include corrections to minor zoning code clerical errors — such as spelling errors, mis-numbered sections and incorrect cross-references — in legislative packages that also include larger, substantive changes and amendments to the code. Since the adoption of the Denver Zoning Code in 2010, corrections of minor clerical errors have been approved through the legislative process. Starting in 2015, CPD will return to the practice in place prior to 2010 of correcting minor clerical errors administratively, doing so twice per year. As publisher of the zoning code, CPD has the authority to make minor clerical corrections as needed. Registered neighborhood organizations (RNOs) and City Council offices will receive email notification when the corrected code is published on the CPD website, though notification for clerical changes is not required. Before any minor clerical corrections are made, the Denver City Attorney’s Office will confirm that the changes are only clerical and cannot be interpreted as a change of substance or meaning. See examples of clerical errors (PDF).
