The impact of gang violence/activity has a rippling effect that reaches beyond specific communities; the impact is citywide. Reducing that impact is a responsibility that cannot rest on the shoulders of a few organizations but rather is a shared responsibility among a diverse range of stakeholders. It is the responsibility of the GRID to bring these stakeholders together and to increase the capacity of GRID partners to begin addressing this issue in a comprehensive and coordinated manner.
Vision: Gangs are not an option for youth growing up in Denver.
Mission: The Gang Reduction Initiative of Denver (GRID) strives to enrich our communities by fostering partnerships and collaborations for the purpose of curtailing youth and gang violence by intervening and redirecting those youth at risk for joining gangs to more pro-social activities and skills that will deter and sustain them through strong schools, communities, services and families.
What is GRID?
GRID is a network of individuals and agencies committed to implementing and supporting the city's comprehensive gang reduction plan.
The GRID Plan
GRID has developed a comprehensive plan for reducing gang violence by employing a balance of suppression, intervention and prevention strategies. The GRID plan is designed to reduce violence now and prevent future violence by focusing on active gang members as well as youth at risk of gang involvement.
