 Inspections Minimize
When are Inspections Required?

The type and number of inspections vary depending on the complexity of your project.  Two types of inspections may be required for your project:
Rough-In Inspection. Call for rough inspection of the construction when all framing work has been completed and the plumbing piping, electrical wiring, and heating ducts have been installed in the framing, but before any of the work has been covered by drywall. Call for rough inspection of footing excavations when all reinforcing steel, forms, and groundwork plumbing and electrical have been installed, but before any concrete is poured.

Final Inspection. Call for final inspection when the construction has been completed. All external surfaces must be painted, or otherwise sealed, weather-stripping must be installed on all new windows and doors, and all electrical or plumbing fixtures have been installed. Interior painting, wallpapering, or carpeting need not be complete. Smoke detectors must be installed in all bedrooms and in the hallway leading to the bedrooms.
How Do I Schedule an Inspection?
Automated Inspection Request System

Call our Automated Inspection Request System at 720-865-2501 to schedule an inspection 24-hours a day. Inspection requests received before Midnight will usually be scheduled for the following work day. Occasionally an inspection is scheduled for a later date due to volume of workload. To schedule an inspection using the automated system you will need:

• The permit number which is printed on the bottom of your permit.
• Three-digit inspection code for the inspection type requested.  To determine which inspection code to use, refer to the Inspection Type Directory.

At the end of your call, you will be given a verification number and the inspection date. To find out the approximate time of an inspection, contact our office the morning of the scheduled inspection.

Fax Request System

You may also fax your inspection request to 720-865-2675. Each inspection request should be faxed separately. Indicate the contractor's name, type of permit, type of inspection to be performed (Frame, Foot, Found, W.S., Rough, Final, Partial, Service) and the exact address with unit or floor number. Also include the permit number and the name of the person requesting the inspection.
When Can I Get a Certificate of Occupancy?

In some cases, the Department will issue a Certificate of Occupancy when the inspector has signed the final approval.  Not all construction work is required to be issued a Certificate of Occupancy.  You may contact your inspector to find out more about whether your project will be issued a Certificate of Occupancy, or click here for more information.

Courteous Construction
Avoid problems with neighbors and inspectors by knowing and complying with local neighborhood noise ordinances, site hard hatmaintenance and trash disposal, off-street parking and several other City rules and regulations governing neighborhood building and construction projects.
