Then schedule to visit Waste Management Recycle America’s
Recycling Education Center. There you will take a video tour of the largest Materials Recovery Facility (MRF- pronounced “murf”) in Denver. Daily, more than 80 tons of recyclables collected through Denver’s residential recycling program are taken to this facility, where they are sorted and prepared to ship around the country and the world to be reprocessed into new products. The video will show you the sorting process up close.

Visiting the Recycling Education Center is free to Denver residents. Reservations are required, and limited tour space is allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. Residents must provide their own transportation to the center. There must be at least one adult present for every five children under 15.
