"Screen to Green" Electronics Recycling Event, June 28th
Do your part to help the environment by recycling your old television, computer monitor and other used electronic equipment at the “Screen to Green” E-Waste Recycling Event on Saturday, June 28th.  The “Screen to Green” E-Waste Recycling Event will be held at the Auraria Campus in Denver from 10 AM to 2 PM.

Residents will be able to recycle their old televisions, computer monitors or anything with a screen at the reduced rate of only $5 per unit.  The $5 fee will go towards the disassembly process required to recycle the electronics and their components.  All other electronic equipment will be free to recycle at the event.

The responsible recycling of old electronics will help to prevent lead and other chemicals from leaching into the groundwater and into our atmosphere.   Televisions and computers monitors contain 4 to 8 pounds of lead each, as well as many other metals and toxic materials.  Also, recycling old electronics can save energy and valuable resources.

Since TVs, computer monitors and other electronics contain toxic metals and other hazardous materials, it is important that residents not place their electronics in City trash containers or in City alleys.  The City & County of Denver is in the process of developing a comprehensive electronics recycling program to provide residents with additional opportunities for e-waste recycling.  Stay tuned to this website for more details.

Pepsi Center Ups Recycling Program
Pepsi Center Playing Clean

Colorado's largest indoor arena, the 19,000 seat Pepsi Center in Denver, has become the nation's greenest sports and entertainment venue, thanks to the implementation of a new program addressing several key environmental practices, including recycling.

Known as the Play Clean program, the venture establishes a single-stream recycling program for plastic cups, all bottles and clean paper products, as well as another recycling program for cardboard and used grease. Officials with Kroenke Sports Enterprises (Denver), the company that privately owns the nine-year-old facility, estimate the program will divert nearly 20,000 pounds of material from landfill annually.

KSE officials will use local athletes, entertainment stars and personnel in videos and public service announcements to promote the Play Clean program to the more than two million fans that attend events at the Pepsi Center each year.
