Chapter 30 of Denver’s Revised Municipal Code requires that all proposed exterior alterations (including windows), to designated structures and structures in a designated districts, requiring a permit, must be reviewed and approved by the Landmark Preservation Commission prior to the issuance of any Building or Zoning permit. This is referred to as a Design Review. The end result of the process is a Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) that describes the conditions and nature of the work that was approved. The COA is required to be posted in manner identical to a building permit before work commences.
