The Rules and Regulations of the Denver Parks and Recreation system have been created in order to keep our parks and facilities in sustainable condition for future generations.
 


How many parks are there in Denver?

Denver has over 260 parks scattered throughout the metro and mountain areas.  With over 9,000 acres of open space and 17 bike trails, Denver offers great recreational opportunities right in your back yard.


Where are the off-leash parks for dogs located?

All dog owners must adhere to posted rules and regulations. Bag dispensers are provided at each park, and dog owners are expected to clean-up after their pooches. Denver's six off-leash dog parks are located (go to the PARKS tab for directions and map)  in the following parks:

Berkeley Park - Sheridan and West 46th
Barnum Park - Hooker and West 5th
Kennedy Park - Hampden and South Dayton
Fuller Park - Franklin and East 29th
Green Valley Ranch East Park - Jebel and East 45th
Stapleton - East 24th Avenue & Syracuse Street

Why do I need to get a permit to have a birthday party for my child at park?
 
A permit is required for any scheduled park activity of 25 or more attendees.  A park permit will guarantee your spot within the park. 

Can I bring alcoholic drinks to the park?

Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in any of our parks, except when permitted by a concession agreement approved by the Manager of Denver Parks and Recreation.

Can I play music in a park?

Amplified music or sound is permitted only in those areas designated by ordinance or specified on your permit.

What parks allow boating?

Three Denver lakes are available for boating: Sloan’s Lake, Berkeley Lake and Smith Lake in Washington Park.

Can I go swimming in any of Denvers park lakes?

Swimming in park water areas is prohibited, except for municipal swimming pools.

What types of recreation programs do you offer?

Denver Parks and Recreation offers classes in aquatics, fitness, health and wellness, social enrichment, crafts, group sports and more.  Go to the RECREATION tab above  to learn more about our programs and classes.
   

Can I advertise in a park?

Advertising is not permitted in any manner unless authorized by concessionaire contracts approved by the Manager of Denver Parks and Recreation.


What are the hours the public may use Denver parks?
5 a.m. - 11 p.m.

Is sledding permitted in your parks?

Only at Ruby Hill park during dates set in winter.
