Mayor Hancock, as part of his First 100 Days Plan, has made it a priority to appoint a new Police Chief for the Denver Police Department who will adhere to the city's newly established discipline rules and quickly resolve pending and future discipline cases.

As part of this initiative, a national search for a new police chief was launched in mid-August headed by thePolice Executive Research Forum (PERF). PERF is a national membership organization of progressive police executives from the largest city, county and state law enforcement agencies dedicated to improving policing and advancing professionalism through research and involvement in public policy debate.

As part of transition, a Police Chief Committee was established to engage stakeholders in the process, and to discover the qualities desired in the new chief as well as develop recommendations and the processes for selection.

The Police Chief Committee's report from transition can be viewed here.

  • Janice Sinden, Chief of Staff, office of Mayor Michael B. Hancock
  • Doug Friednash, City Attorney, co-chair - Police Chief Committee
