
The Denver Fire Department (DFD) provides the highest possible standard of emergency response to the city and county of Denver and the incorporated city of Glendale who contract with us for Fire and EMS services. The DFD maintains 34 fire stations to include two fire stations and two ARFF rigs at Denver International Airport. These fire stations are strategically placed throughout the 155 square mile area that we protect.
As a full service fire and rescue department, the DFD is committed to excellence in every aspect of fire and life safety. All firefighters are trained in both fire suppression and emergency medical response. As a minimum requirement, each of DFD 900 frontline firefighters must maintain Colorado State certification of as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT).
In addition to the core services offered on every fire rescue unit, the DFD manages all fire rescue operations at DIA., and has also developed extensive selections of specialized rescue capabilities, including:
- Hazardous materials response
- Technical rescue
- Urban search and rescue
- Water Rescue
- High Angel Rescue
