Victim Assistance Unit Mission Statement
--The Victim Assistance Unit is available to provide crisis intervention services 24-hours a day to victims of crime and stark misfortune (non-crime related trauma as identified by the Denver Police Department and/or the City & County of Denver).
--The Victim Assistance Unit views victims as an important constituency who are deserving of services.
--The Victim Assistance Unit strives to identify, notify and involve victims and ensure they can exercise their right to be part of the investigative process.
--The Victim Assistance Unit strives to provide victims referral information to assist them in the recovery of their victimization.
--The Victim Assistance Unit strives to provide services and educational information that will foster an understanding of law enforcement issues to victims and those organizations with an interest in agency efforts.
--The Victim Assistance Unit is committed to sensitizing staff regarding issues and specific duties to be carried out in an effective, efficient, empathetic and culturally competent manner in aiding victims.
