There are several steps in the permitting process for building a new home or expanding your existing home. See categories below to learn more about the permits and approvals required for each type of project. If you don't see what you are looking for, additional home projects are listed in the "Inside the Home" and "Outside the Home" pages. Depending upon the location and complexity of your project, requirements may vary from the information presented below.
If you have any questions, please contact us.
Are you getting ready to complete a home project and trying to figure out whether to hire a licensed contractor or complete the work as a do-it-yourself project? Here are some things to consider:
Search a list of companies that currently have obtained a contractor's license from the City and County of Denver. Be sure to check the expiration date and status to make sure the contractor's license is still active.
Create an account using the e-plan account application form. Then use e-Plan to submit your plans electronically.
To check your building permit review status, you will need the log number you received when you submitted your application and building plans. If you don't know you log number or if you need additional help, please call 720-865-2720.
You can use the automated phone system to schedule a building inspection or request an inspection in person.
