Testing and Training
Testing
Applicants who meet the minimum eligibility requirements are considered for
further processing. The examination process is completed through the Civil
Service Commission.
It consists of:
· Written Examination
· Physical Agility Test
· Psychological Evaluation
· Polygraph Examination
· Medical Screening
· Background Investigation
Training
Upon acceptance to the reserve program, recruits complete over 400 hours of
intensive training that meets Colorado State requirements. Instruction includes
both classroom sessions and physical skills training.
Reserve academy classes are held Monday through Thursday during the evening
and on some Saturdays over a 19-week period. Graduates are certified through
Colorado P.O.S.T. as Reserve Peace Officers.
