Gang Reduction Initiative of Denver (GRID)
...enriching our communities by fostering partnerships and collaborations to curtail youth and gang violence The GRID collaborative intervenes and redirects those youth at risk of joining gangs to pro-social activities and skills that will deter and sustain them through strong schools, communities, services and families.
Grounded in the Comprehensive Gang Model, developed through research and practice by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), GRID provides strategies that embrace and promote community and agency coordination, and the provision of services delivered by public and private agencies to youth, families and communities impacted by gangs.
There are 5 areas of implementation:
Community Mobilization, Organizational Change and Development, Opportunities Provision, Social Intervention, and Suppression.
Currently, GRID focuses its activities along the Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd corridor, which includes Northeast Park Hill, Cole and Elyria/Swansea neighborhoods, and the Southwest Federal Blvd corridor, which includes Westwood neighborhood.
