Mary Beth is the daughter of a career Air Force officer. After being raised all over the world she settled in Denver, her home for over 35 years.
Prior to running for City Council, Mary Beth spent her career in education and communications technology. After earning her PhD from the University of Denver, Mary Beth worked for the Colorado Community College System (CCCS) and retired as the Vice President. While at CCCS, Mary Beth created the Colorado Community College Online (CCCOnline), providing anytime education access to over 30,000 students a year. She served as President of CCCOnline before creating statewide online colleges for Kentucky and Louisiana. Mary Beth is a Smithsonian Institution Laureate for her development of online access to higher education.
Mary Beth has been a longtime community leader. She served as President of the Cranmer Park/Hilltop Neighborhood Association, member of the Denver Planning Board, and Chairperson of the Lowry Economic Adjustment Committee. Mary Beth has worked to develop some of Denver’s most successful communities including Lowry, Stapleton, Central Platte Valley and the Golden Triangle.
