The Cherokee Design Guidelines discusses the vision that guides the document, then defines the six sub-areas and presents urban design criteria in the form of standards and guidelines for vehicular and pedestrian circulation, general architectural standards and guidelines, parks and plazas, parking, and signage. The overall goal is to create a mixed use, transit-oriented development that will result in a compact, urban neighborhood in a strategically located area. The mixed-use aspect will include residential, retail, commercial, office, galleries, and restaurants, combined with parks, plazas, and a busy transit hub.
