Solid/Hazardous Waste Disposal
The Environmental Compliance & Management (EC&M) section responds to a wide variety of complaints concerning improper disposal of solid or hazardous waste. EC&M specifically responds to complaints concerning operating commercial or industrial facilities that may not be in compliance with the applicable state laws and regulations or the city ordinance. In addition, during the course of air and stormwater inspections, EC&M observes the waste handling, including storage and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Should there be compliance questions with regard to the storage or treatment of a waste at a specific site, EC&M may refer these issues to the state for the final compliance determination. All generator notifications and permitting are the authority of the state.
