SCO is committed to working with Denver Public Schools to provide school-based prevention and early intervention services for youth and their families. The purpose of the School-based Diversion program is to address at-risk behavior and to prevent victimization and/or perpetration of violence on school grounds. Youth who are cited for offenses that are committed on school grounds may have a chance to have their ticket dismissed as a result of participating in the program. By involving students, families, schools, and the community throughout the diversion process, the School-based Diversion program helps to reduce the Failure-to-appear rate as well as the court docket numbers within the Juvenile Municipal courtroom (191J).
